Holistic Coaching into ‘A Positive Mindset’

Holistic Coaching into ‘A Positive Mindset’

It is no secret, that negative thoughts and outlooks can increase the amount of stress you experience in your life. However, the amount of stress you experience can also impact the way you think and view yourself and the world. It can be a terrible cycle and one that is not easily broken. Thankfully, through the practice of creating a positive mindset, you can change the way your mind processes stressful situations and consequently reduce a significant amount of stress in your life.

How can Holistic Coaching help?

Negative self-talk will cause stress in your life. When you focus on what can go wrong then you are creating stress before it even necessarily happens. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy – you are creating failure, disappointment and stress by assuming it is going to happen anyway. Holistic Coaching focuses on motivating and guiding an individual  to think positively instead of negatively. The coach will delve deeper and understand you as a ‘whole’ in order to figure out the cause, which has led to negative thinking in the first place.

Is this really going to help me?

Changing the way you think, starts off with changing your ‘language’ or your choice of words. During a holistic coaching session , you may discover  that certain phrases and words, which are part of your daily vocabulary, need to be replaced!

For example: Consider the phrases you use when you negatively self-talk and change them to more positively reflect the situation.

“I’m not good at this.” OR “What am I missing?”

“This is too hard.” OR “This will take time.”

“I can’t do better.” OR “I can improve.”

You can also try to change the way you think by implementing the power of “yet”. The next time you have a negative thought about yourself, try adding the word “yet” to the end of the statement.

“I can’t do this…yet.”

“I don’t get this…yet.”

“I don’t know…yet.”

Using positive affirmations on a daily basis is also a great tool in creating a positive mindset. You can choose to repeat affirmations out loud in the mornings, during the day or at night before you go to bed. The point of speaking these affirmations is to begin to convince yourself, and nobody else, of your strengths and capabilities. It may feel silly at first to speak out loud to yourself but over time this practice will become normal and part of your routine. Try these simple affirmations right now:

“I will be calm.”

“I will allow positive thoughts.”

“I am enough.”

“I am happy.”

Creating a positive mindset to reduce stress in your life has nothing to do with any external necessities or materials. It all begins with your mind and the fortitude to tell yourself that you are the best you can be and that you are capable of dealing with tough situations. Easier said than done? ‘A little help, never hurt nobody’.
